Decking is becoming more popular as people spend more time living in and caring for their gardens. 

Garden Decks can be a perfect way to extend living space from the inside of a property to outside into the garden.  Its a way to raise ground level to the height of doors or access to a property. Decking can also be a option to solve an uneven or sloping landscape problem.

An impressive walkway that joins the garden with house is another novel use for deck and balustrade.  The plain decking boards make an ideal setting for showing colourful plants to great effect.

Decking and Balustrade points to consider....

• Position of the deck should be considered. If the deck is created in an area that gets no sunlight then the decking will be constantly damp and will be prone to become slippery over time and will require more maintenance.
• When preparing the area that the deck will be positioned, make sure all grass and weeds in the area are cleared.
• Even though the above step should remove all undesired plant growth, a weed suppressant should also be considered to stop any new growth.
• Make sure that the boards have spaces between them. This allows for water to drain easily.
• Decks should be brushed every so often so that damp leaves and debris do not sit on the boards and cause a lack of drainage. Unsightly stains may appear on the decking boards if debris is present for a while.
• It's always worth moving garden furniture around the deck to allow the boards to dry and to stop irregular sunlight. If this is not done then distinguished marks can also start to appear.
• To add extra strength to balustrade, spur posts should be fitted to every other post.
